Winners of the second stage of the II International Khankendi Ultramarathon are announced

The second stage of the III International Khankendi Ultramarathon, organized jointly by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Athletics Federation, and the Baku City Ring Operating Company, has been wrapped up. A total of 97 athletes from 6 countries took part. In this stage, the runners started in the city of Agdash and covered 63.5 kilometers to Berdəyədək. In a tightly contested competition, Georgian David Xarazişvili won the men’s race, while Ukrainian Olena Shevchenko took first place in the women’s event.
Postxronika.az reports, citing the Press Service of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, that the athletes will cover a total distance of 192 kilometers and reach the finish line in Khankendi. In a competition consisting of four stages, winners in each lane are awarded separately, while the tournament’s overall champions receive the main prize. This prestigious event, promoting a healthy lifestyle and the sport of running, makes a significant contribution to showcasing the sporting potential of our regions.
Held for the first time in 2024, this large-scale ultramarathon expands its geography and number of participants every year. The dedication of the athletes and the high results they achieve provide an important impetus for the development of athletics in our country. In the next stages, strong determination and fierce competition in difficult conditions will also be seen among the athletes.
