Ilham Aliyev met with Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian

On October 9 in Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan, a meeting took place between Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev and Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian. During the talks, the parties spoke with satisfaction about the dynamics in the development of bilateral relations and about the recent contacts, stressing the importance of historical friendship and neighborhood ties between our countries. The Iranian head of state said he highly appreciates Azerbaijan’s supportive position in regional matters as a friendly and well-disposed neighbor.
Postxronika.az reports, citing Report, that the parties noted with satisfaction that work on the strategically important Agbənd–Kəlalə infrastructure is already in the final stage. The heads of state confirmed that the relevant agencies continue their joint efforts to implement the agreements reached in previous meetings. The talks also addressed Iran’s first participation in the “CIS plus” format in its capacity as a non-member country, along with other regional issues.
Continuing the high-level dialogue between these two neighboring states contributes to strengthening stability in the South Caucasus and the Middle East. Implementing joint transport and communications projects sharply increases the region’s economic potential and transit opportunities. Experts view this meeting as an important step toward further deepening mutual trust between Baku and Tehran and expanding multifaceted partnership.
