Japan intends to continue dialogue with Russia
NQ
Japan has said it intends to continue dialogue with Russia to resolve bilateral issues.
Postxronika.az reports, citing TASS, that this was stated by Minoru Kihara, the Chief Secretary of Japan’s Cabinet, at a press conference in Tokyo.
He noted that Japan has not changed its position on the status of the Southern Kuril Islands and considers it important to sign a peace treaty with Russia. Kihara stressed that bilateral relations are in a difficult situation against the backdrop of the conflict in Ukraine, but that contacts with Moscow will continue.
It should be noted that the main obstacle to signing a peace treaty between Russia and Japan is the disagreement over the status of the Southern Kuril Islands.
