Remote Greenland outpost expected to be handed to US troops

The Mestersvig military outpost in eastern Greenland could become one of the main US military footholds in the Arctic following a new US-Denmark defense agreement.
Postxronika.az reports, citing Reuters, that the outpost, used by a small Danish military detachment for decades, is envisioned to host US troops in the future.
Mestersvig lies 240 kilometers from the nearest settlement, on the edge of a national park larger than the combined territory of Germany and France.
The area is in complete darkness during winter months, with average temperatures around minus 10 degrees.
According to former Danish serviceman Anders Ibsen, the region is one of the most remote and harsh-climate areas in the world.
