“Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC reports that during the January–September period of 2026 it received and dispatched a total of 416 block trains from China. This figure in the transport sector is 40% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year. Increasing the release capacity of strategic rail lines has enabled cargo to be transported faster from China to Europe and the Middle East.
Postxronika.az reports with reference to ADY that this significant increase points to the rapidly strengthening role of the Middle Corridor project in international transit. Modernizing transport infrastructure and optimizing logistics processes have made it possible to intensify cargo flows through our country. The uninterrupted handling of container trains along the East–West direction further enhances Azerbaijan’s standing as a regional logistics hub.
The rise in the volume of international freight shipments makes an important contribution to the country’s economy in terms of its transit potential and increased transit revenues. The railway administration aims to further increase the number of block trains coming from China in the future by expanding cooperation with foreign partners. Experts note that the development of transregional routes will continue to strengthen Azerbaijan’s position in the global supply chain.
