Shocking move after court ruling: "Politico" and "MS NOW" still barred from the White House
RH
Despite a court order mandating the immediate restoration of access for leading media outlets whose entry had been banned on President Donald Trump's orders, the presidential administration has again blocked journalists from entering the White House. Just hours after a federal judge ruled the ban unconstitutional and suspended it for 14 days, staff from "Politico" and "MS NOW" were denied entry to the press facility.
"Postxronika.az" reports, citing Reuters, that even "Politico"'s correspondent had his official press credential taken away, while it remains unclear whether "CNN" representatives were able to enter the building. The court's unexpected interim ruling had been seen as a significant legal setback for the Trump administration in its fierce fight with the press.
However, the executive branch's disregard for the court's warnings is further deepening the country's constitutional crisis over freedom of speech and the press. Experts say official Washington's stubborn stance will push the legal standoff between media outlets and the White House to a new level.
