Around 80 countries have demanded the urgent opening of the Strait of Hormuz, condemning attacks in the region and obstacles to international trade.
Postxronika.az reports, citing Reuters, that this was stated in a joint declaration read out at the UN.
The declaration stressed that Iran's actions in the Strait of Hormuz pose a threat to international security and freedom of navigation.
The countries that signed the document also condemned the Houthi movement for reigniting the conflict in Yemen and its attacks in the Red Sea.
The declaration noted that the Houthis' advance toward the Bab al-Mandab strait would increase risks to international shipping, maritime security and global trade.
