Russia accuses the EU of neocolonial approach in the Arctic
NQ
Russia accused the European Union of trying to limit other countries’ cooperation in the Arctic and of demonstrating a neocolonial approach.
Postxronika.az reports, citing TASS, that this was stated in a statement by the Russian embassy in the United Kingdom.
The statement was issued in response to comments by the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Policy, Kaja Kallas, saying that the West should prevent the European Union from taking control of the new sea route opened in the Arctic by China and Russia.
Kallas’s interview was published ahead of the presentation of the EU’s updated Arctic strategy, which envisages a tougher approach to geopolitics, security, and the actions of Moscow and Beijing.
