Foreign nationals attempting to breach the state border have been detained

As a result of operational and troops measures carried out in the service areas of the Border Troops of the State Border Service by the “Zaqatala” and “Shamkir” border detachments, foreign nationals who attempted to breach the state border were detained. During the measures, 1 Palestinian citizen who wanted to cross from Georgia into our country was apprehended, and, in the opposite direction, 3 Afghan and 2 Algerian citizens who were trying to illegally enter from Azerbaijan into Georgia were also detained. In the course of efforts to combat illegal migration, a total of 6 foreign nationals were neutralized by the border guards.

Postxronika.az, citing the State Border Service, reports that the necessary operational-investigative measures in connection with the recorded facts are continuing without interruption. Decisive steps are being taken to ensure reliable protection of the state borders and to prevent attempts at illegal migration. Law-enforcement agencies are keeping the security regime along the border under heightened attention.
